Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead field crews in control, boundary and topographic surveys, construction stakeout, and as-built surveying.

The role requires 4–8 years of relevant experience and strong leadership to mentor team members on projects nationwide. You will operate robotic total stations, RTK GPS, data collectors and levels, interpret design plans, and produce accurate field notes and sketches.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant survey field experience.
• Ability to mentor and manage field staff.
• Experience with robotic total stations and RTK GPS.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a survey field crew performing control, boundary, and topographic surveys, construction stakeout, and as-built surveys.
• Mentor, train, and manage assigned staff in the field.
• Operate robotic total stations, electronic data collectors, digital and optical levels, and RTK GPS equipment.
• Perform survey calculations and interpret design plans and as-built drawings.
• Create legible field sketches and detailed field notes.
• A valid current driver’s license is required.
• Be willing to travel for overnight and extended stay projects as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• This position is a Survey Party Chief which requires 4‑8 years of experience supervising a survey field crew performing control surveys, boundary and topographic surveys, construction stakeout, monitoring and as‑built surveys.
• Must have the ability to mentor, train, and manage assigned staff in the field.
• Must have the ability to operate robotic total stations, electronic data collectors, digital and optical levels, and RTK GPS equipment.
• Must have excellent math skills and be able to perform survey calculations in the field.
• Must have ability to interpret design plans and understand as‑built drawings and roadway plans.
• Must have ability to create legible field sketches and detailed field notes.
• A valid current driver’s license is required.
• Ability to follow instructions and have a positive can‑do attitude are necessities.
• Must possess leadership and mentoring skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, walk for extended periods, work in all weather conditions, be willing to work evenings/weekends when required, and be willing to travel for overnight and extended stay projects as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
