Job summary

Superior Construction in Tampa, FL is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead field survey operations for roadway and bridge projects. You will establish control, perform layout, and supervise crew on heavy civil sites.

You will work with Robotic total stations and GPS, ensure safety, and comply with OSHA. Ideal candidates have 2–4 years surveying experience and a high school diploma; valid driver’s license required.

Job DescriptionSummary/ObjectiveThe Survey Party Chief is responsible for the construction layout for roadway, structures (bridges, wall, culverts, etc.), utilities, and any other related layout for the project.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Determine methods and procedures for recovery of existing survey control and establishing secondary survey control as needed.Operate and maintain all survey equipment including manual and robotic total stations, levels, GPS, and any other survey equipment.Perform layout work competently and accurately as specified.Familiar with Topcon/Leica/Trimble hardware and software or willingness to learn.Mathematical skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.Physical DemandsThe position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pull’s or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position.
