Job summary

Informed Land Survey (ILS) is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead field crews on a variety of projects across western Washington, including boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, extensive field experience, and a solid understanding of surveying methods, technology, and safety protocols, with travel to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and work on military installations.
• Strong knowledge of surveying procedures, standards, and best practices.
• Proficiency with survey field equipment and software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage survey crews in the field on diverse project types.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment including robotic total stations, GPS systems, and other instruments.
• Perform field data collection, calculations, and construction staking.
• Download, process, and analyze field data using electronic data collection systems and surveying software.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of field notes, computation sheets, and data files.
• Coordinate workflow and act as the primary point of contact for crew personnel.
• Interact professionally with clients, contractors, and property owners.
• Maintain adherence to safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Travel to job sites and work in varying outdoor conditions.
• Must be available for occasional overtime as needed.

About The Role

Informed Land Survey (ILS) is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead field crews on a variety of projects across western Washington. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for both public and private clients.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive field experience, and a thorough understanding of surveying methods, technology, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage survey crews in the field on diverse project types
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment including robotic total stations, GPS systems, and other instruments
• Perform field data collection, calculations, and construction staking
• Download, process, and analyze field data using electronic data collection systems and surveying software
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of field notes, computation sheets, and data files
• Coordinate workflow and act as the primary point of contact for crew personnel
