Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA) is seeking a Survey Party Chief in Bellevue, WA.

The role involves leading a survey crew to perform boundary, topography, ALTA, right‑of‑way, and construction surveys for public and private clients, with responsibilities spanning field data collection, calculations, and data reduction in the office. You will operate Trimble and Leica equipment, maintain field notes, and collaborate with DEA staff and clients to ensure precise deliverables.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of field survey experience.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and accountability.
  • Clean driving record required (no more than 3 accidents and/or moving violations in the last 36 months or 2 accidents and/or moving violations within the last 12 months).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain survey equipment, including Trimble total stations, Trimble GPS equipment, and Leica electronic levels
  • Collect and process field data; perform complex survey computations using software such as Trimble Business Center and Leica
  • Maintain detailed and accurate field notes, data collection files, and computation sheets
  • Inspect and verify accuracy of deliverables before submission
  • Coordinate, lead, and mentor survey crew personnel

The Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit is seeking a Survey Party Chief in Bellevue, WA.

Our Survey Party Chiefwill work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for public and private clients. The selected individual will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, taking field notes, data collection, performing calculations and working with DEA staff and clients on these projects. Involvement in the office will include reducing survey data, performing calculations, copying and filing of this data.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trimble Total Station and GPS experience preferred
  • Proficiencies with MS Word and Excel a plus

The posted salary range represents the typical range for this position and is provided in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

Physical Requirements & Occasional Work Environments:
  • Occasionally work in various positions to complete tasks in different environments, including tight or confined spaces.
  • Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
  • Occasionally adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • Frequently operate a motor vehicle, and, when required, machinery, power tools, or heavy equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to low temperatures or high temperatures.
