Job summary

FlatironDragados in the Alexandria area seeks a Survey Manager to lead survey teams across project sites, providing technical input on engineering standards and land mapping.

You will oversee field crews, ensure accurate layout and data collection, monitor equipment calibration, and coordinate survey activities with engineers and superintendents to meet construction requirements. This role supports a landmark rail-bypass project and offers a comprehensive compensation package and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geometrics or related field preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in survey or land mapping required.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Proven leadership and management skills.
• Expert knowledge of land mapping and technical survey instrument techniques.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and material installation.
• Ensures crews perform layout work competently and accurately.
• Checks as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
• Provides topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and payments.
• Assists with quantity calculations as required.
• Monitors and maintains surveying equipment calibration.
• Coordinates survey activities with engineers and superintendents to meet construction requirements.
• Manages survey department resources and budget.

Job description

Are you an innovative leader with expert knowledge of land mapping and technical survey instrument techniques? As a Survey Manager, you who will oversee survey teams of one or more project sites, providing technical input regarding engineering standards, specifications, design instructions and land mapping. Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to contribute to deliver exceptional results.

FlatironDragados and Herzog are partnering to build the $422M Franconia-Springfield Bypass. This rail-bridge will allow passenger trains to crossover the freight tracks in order to serve stations on the opposite side of the rail corridor. Once completed, this bridge will reduce congestion for both freight and passenger trains.

What You Will Be Doing

• Provides work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by field staff
• Ensures that crews perform layout work competently and accurately.
• Checks as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
• Provides topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
• Assists with conducting quantity calculations as required.
• Monitors and maintains the condition and calibration of surveying equipment.
• Coordinates survey activities with the assigned engineer and superintendents to meet the construction requirements.
• Manages survey department resources and department assigned budget .

What We Are Looking For

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geometrics or related field preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in survey or land mapping required.
