Job summary

University of Michigan Institute for Social Research recruits part-time interviewers to support survey data collection using standardized interviewing techniques. You will conduct computer-assisted interviews, manage respondent contacts, and help with pre-testing of instruments.

Responsibilities include persuading respondents, coding data, maintaining data security, and adhering to study protocols. A flexible schedule including evenings and weekends is required, with potential hybrid or remote

Qualifications

• Graduate from high school or equivalent
• Familiarity with desktop and laptop computer
• Quality of voice that will enable respondents to hear the questions read in a uniform way
• Receptive to monitoring and constructive feedback to improve quality of interviews and interviewing techniques
• Successful completion of SRC training and certification interviews

Responsibilities

• Persuade study respondents to participate in social science surveys.
• Accurately complete CAI instruments with verbatim responses.
• Utilize respondent contact and sample management procedures for assigned loads.
• Conduct and complete refusal conversion interviews.
• Assist with pre-testing and testing of survey instruments.
• Code data entry applications.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of data.
• Display teamwork and willingness to improve performance.
• Other related duties as assigned.
