Job summary

City of Provo's Engineering Division is seeking a part-time Survey Intern to support the municipal survey team. This role offers hands-on experience mapping surveys with AutoCAD Civil 3D and assisting the survey crew on various projects.

Hours are 15-25 per week during the school year, up to 40 in summer, with a start date soon after applying. Compensation is $15.00-$20.00 per hour, and Provo City employees receive benefits including a library card, recreation discounts, and retirement plan

Qualifications

• Preference given to Surveying students.

What is the compensation?

$15.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on qualifications.

What are the main duties?

• Complete projects for the Engineering Division/Survey Team as directed.

• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to map surveys.

What are the minimum qualifications?

• Bona fide student in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or closely-related field. (Preference given to Surveying students.)

• Valid, lawful driver license at time of appointment. Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

What are the hours?

15-25 hours per week during the school year, up to 40 hours per week during the summer, Monday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

What are the physical and environmental factors?

Requires working on a computer for extended periods of time. May involve exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

What is the selection process?

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on September 2, 2026..

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
