Job summary

The Provo City Engineering Division is seeking a Survey Intern to support a high-performing survey team. This part-time role offers hands-on experience mapping surveys and checking subdivision plats, with a 25-hour schedule and a pay range of $15.00–$20.00 per hour.

Qualified students in Civil Engineering or Surveying fields will gain practical exposure while assisting the team. The schedule runs 15–25 hours weekly during the school year and up to 40 hours in summer.

Qualifications

• Bona fide student in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or closely-related field.
• Valid, lawful driver license at time of appointment.
• Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State DMV.

• Complete projects for the Engineering Division/Survey Team as directed.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to map surveys.
• Check subdivision plats.
• Assist survey crew and other department employees as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job Details

The Provo City Engineering Division is recruiting for a Survey Intern position. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a high-performing municipal survey team. Minimum Qualifications

• Bona fide student in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or closely-related field. (Preference given to Surveying students.)
• Valid, lawful driver license at time of appointment.
• Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Hours

15-25 hours per week during the school year, up to 40 hours per week during the summer, Monday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Physical and Environmental Factors

Requires working on a computer for extended periods of time. May involve exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on September 2, 2026. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
