Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to perform field surveying tasks in Atlanta, GA. You will collect data, operate instruments, and support the Party Chief while ensuring accuracy and adherence to company procedures.

The role requires 1+ years in land surveying with GPS equipment and GDOT experience; travel is required and a valid driver’s license is necessary. Training is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years experience with data collectors and GPS equipment.
  • 1+ years land surveying experience.
  • GDOT experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability required.
  • Willing to train the right candidate without the above noted experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must be willing to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
  • Assist Party Chief in running field operations.
  • Operate and maintain surveying instruments to measure elevations, angles and distances.
  • Coordinate with office staff and clients as required.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal survey regulations and Accura procedures.
  • Monitor accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.
  • Interpret maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Clean, check and adjust survey instruments to assure accuracy.
  • Oversee surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.
  • Perform related work as required.

Job Title: Survey Instrument Operator



  • Work Location: Atlanta, GA ***


Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Candidates must be able to collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.

  • Assist Party Chief in running the field operations

  • Operates and maintains various surveying instruments, such as transits, level, theodolite, and electronic distance measuring equipment to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances.

  • Coordinates with office staff and clients as required.

  • Adheres to local, state, and federal survey regulations as well as Accura Engineering procedures.

  • Monitors accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections

  • Performs mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.

  • Interprets maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Cleans, checks and adjusts survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.

  • Oversees surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.

  • Perform related work as required.


Education/Experience


  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 1+ years of utilizing data collectors, robotic and non-robotic total stations and GPS equipment.

  • 1+ years of experience in land surveying

  • Experience with GDOT

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable

  • Willing to train the right candidate without the above noted experience

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

  • Must be willing and able to travel as required for the role.


Physical Requirements


  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments

  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
