Job summary

Accura Engineering & Consulting Services, Inc. in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Survey Technician to support field operations and data collection according to company standards. You will assist the Party Chief, operate and maintain survey instruments, and coordinate with clients and office staff.

The role requires 1+ year of land surveying experience, GDOT familiarity, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel as needed. Training is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year surveying experience with GDOT preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable.
  • Willingness to travel for the role.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
  • Assist Party Chief in running field operations.
  • Operate and maintain surveying instruments to measure elevations, angles, and distances.
  • Coordinate with office staff and clients as required.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal survey regulations and Accura procedures.
  • Monitor daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections.
  • Perform calculations to establish reference points.
  • Interpret maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Calibrate survey instruments to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Oversee surveying activities in the absence of the Survey Party Chief.
  • Perform related work as required.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Candidates must be able to collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
  • Assist Party Chief in running the field operations
  • Operates and maintains various surveying instruments, such as transits, level, theodolite, and electronic distance measuring equipment to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances.
  • Coordinates with office staff and clients as required.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal survey regulations as well as Accura Engineering procedures.
  • Monitors accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections
  • Performs mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.
  • Interprets maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Cleans, checks and adjusts survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.
  • Oversees surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.
  • Perform related work as required.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of utilizing data collectors, robotic and non-robotic total stations and GPS equipment.
  • 1+ years of experience in land surveying
  • Experience with GDOT
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable
  • Must be willing and able to travel as required for the role.
  • Willing to train the right candidate without the above noted experience
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

Physical Requirements:
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
