Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join our field team. You will collect data using company standards, assist the Party Chief, and operate surveying instruments to measure elevations, angles, and distances in various environments.

The role requires the ability to travel, interpret maps and blueprints, and maintain equipment for accuracy. A high school diploma and experience with GPS/total stations are preferred; GDOT familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years' experience with data collectors and surveying instruments.
  • Experience in land surveying preferred.
  • GDOT experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability.
  • Willing to train candidates without noted experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
  • Assist Party Chief in field operations.
  • Operate and maintain surveying instruments to measure elevations, angles, and distances.
  • Coordinate with office staff and clients as required.
  • Adhere to survey regulations and Accura procedures.
  • Ensure daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections are completed.
  • Perform calculations to locate reference points.
  • Interpret maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Maintain instrument accuracy.
  • Oversee surveying in the absence of Party Chief.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Job Title: Survey Instrument Operator



  • Work Location: Atlanta, GA ***


Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview


Duties/Responsibilities


  • Candidates must be able to collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.

  • Assist Party Chief in running the field operations

  • Operates and maintains various surveying instruments, such as transits, level, theodolite, and electronic distance measuring equipment to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances.

  • Coordinates with office staff and clients as required.

  • Adheres to local, state, and federal survey regulations as well as Accura Engineering procedures.

  • Monitors accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections

  • Performs mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.

  • Interprets maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Cleans, checks and adjusts survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.

  • Oversees surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.

  • Perform related work as required.


Education/Experience


  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 1+ years of utilizing data collectors, robotic and non-robotic total stations and GPS equipment.

  • 1+ years of experience in land surveying

  • Experience with GDOT

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable

  • Willing to train the right candidate without the above noted experience

  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

  • Must be willing and able to travel as required for the role.


Physical Requirements


  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments

  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
