Job summary

Bechtel in Cheyenne, WY seeks a Surveyor to support the construction team, reporting to the Project Lead Surveyor. You will perform siteworks surveying, use design drawings and field data to determine commodity locations, and collaborate with Field Engineering for material verification.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and environmental programs, with duties including layout accuracy, data recordation, and survey data management. Strong field/off ice integration is required.

Qualifications

• Engineering/Technical degree and 2-5 years' experience in heavy construction/industrial surveying, involving a mix of field and office duties with modern instruments and software.
• In lieu of a degree, 6-9 years' experience in heavy construction/industrial surveying can satisfy the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Lead Surveyor with the oversight of the survey operations and provides technical direction to the direct-hire team
• Perform the duties of the Project Lead Surveyor during his/her absence
• Support the survey team's implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs
• Responsible for the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities
• Provide Construction Survey support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision
• Establish and/or verify and maintain the project's survey control network
• Perform verifications of subcontract survey control points and work
• Perform and/or review Survey Control field work and perform accurate network least squares adjustments
• Perform or oversee the development and management of survey data
• Perform or oversee the Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments
• Support the administration of the survey work request program
• Perform and/or check survey computations as required in the performance of duties
• Support the implementation of project's machine control technology
• Support the implementation of the UAV (Drones) program
• Support the implementation of the 3D Laser Scanning operations, including reality capture and processing of scan data
• Support the creation and implementation of the survey training program
• Perform and/or supervise the preparation of survey CAD drawings, including generation of Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volumes computations
• Provide Civil project completion documentation including "As-Built" records
