Job summary

Actalent seeks a Survey Technician in the Detroit metro area to support and lead survey crews on transportation, municipal, and land development projects. You will perform field and office tasks including staking, boundary, and topographic surveys using GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, LIDAR, drones, and Trimble/Leica systems.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical education in Surveying, Civil Technology, or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of surveying or construction field experience.
• Ability to comprehend and utilize construction plans for layout in the field.
• Strong math skills for field calculations and error checking.
• Experience with Leica-based systems or Trimble equipment.
• Proficient with GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, and digital levels.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute survey tasks for diverse projects.
• Review project scope and keep records organized.
• Collaborate with engineers, officials, contractors, and supervisors.
• Determine surveying techniques based on site conditions.
• Coordinate with utilities for surveys on streets and easements.
• Operate GNSS, robotic total stations, and levels proficiently.
• Gather data to map areas and measure angles, distances, elevations.
• Draft reports, descriptions, and deliverables for surveys.
