Job summary

Spicer Group in Michigan is seeking an energetic Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief to lead field surveying for infrastructure projects. You will supervise technicians, coordinate staking operations, and apply GNSS/robotic total-station knowledge using the latest surveying technology.

The role requires experience with construction staking, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects under limited supervision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lead survey technicians and coordinate field activities.
  • Experience with construction staking and surveying for infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication with clients and staff.
  • Physically capable of demanding outdoor work.

Responsibilities

  • Direct field survey activities for projects of various sizes.
  • Ensure safety and adherence to company procedures and standards.
  • Prepare timesheets, data logs, topographic and staking reports.
  • Plan daily activities across multiple projects to ensure efficient completion.

This is a unique opportunity that requires an individual with experience and understanding of construction projects and construction staking operations in support of major infrastructure projects. This person must be driven, hardworking and highly motivated. Support will be provided to leverage and help grow the surveying practice using the latest in surveying technology, including UAS, mobile LiDAR, static laser scanning, single and multibeam sonar, metrology and industrial measurement tools, and the very latest in robotics and GNSS surveying.
