Job summary

Spicer Group is seeking a licensed Project Surveyor to lead and perform a wide range of survey tasks, including site and highway construction layout, DOT design surveys, control surveys, and ALTA/topographic surveys. The ideal candidate will manage projects, mentor staff, and ensure quality and safety across multiple offices in Michigan, Ohio, and Georgia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying or related field
  • Licensed professional surveyor or ability to become licensed per new licensing guidelines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Civil3D, and MicroStation
  • Familiarity with project scheduling, budgeting, and documentation
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and clients
  • Ability to lead and develop a team
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to track multiple projects
  • Professional demeanor with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred: 5+ years of experience in surveying
  • Preferred: experience on DOT projects

Responsibilities

  • Manages medium-to-large projects, including proposals, budgeting, scheduling, resource management, and team coordination
  • Prepares project proposals and assumes full responsibility for execution
  • Conducts presentations and attends educational or client-related functions to support ongoing and future business
  • Coordinates and communicates with team members, clients, contractors, and outside consultants
  • Attends project meetings, public hearings, and interviews for new projects
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates survey work involving conventional practices
  • Provides mentorship and training to less experienced surveyors, technicians, or administrative support staff
  • Ensures all work complies with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and quality standards

Travel is required and may include both local and out-of-state assignments.
