Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced Lead Survey Supervisor to direct the Survey discipline on projects, ensuring safety, productivity, and quality in layout per specifications. You will plan, coordinate, and motivate craft workers to complete work safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include training surveyors, conducting toolbox meetings, and monitoring crew hours and phase coding while maintaining quality checks and upholding project standards.

Position Summary

Direct and supervise the Survey discipline in safety, productivity, and quality layout of the items as deemed essential for the support of the project. Provide accurate layout and quality checks per the latest project specifications and drawings. Plan and coordinate the efforts of craft workers under his/her supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Be able to perform all of the essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision, ensure that surveyors are qualified to perform their work and provide on-the-job training when needed.
  • Perform task planning, train/teach safety practices, policies and procedures to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of that work assigned.
  • Conduct tool box meetings and communicate safety concerns, work scope, plans and schedules to the crews and review crew's timecards for correct hours and phase coding.
  • Plan and communicate with the warehouse, purchasing and supervisor to assure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment are available.
  • Monitor and report quantities of work accomplished on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Complete performance reviews of craft workers.
Qualifications
  • May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill to perform all essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision.
  • Ability to perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of work assigned, train/ teach safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • Have a working knowledge of the scheduling, material control and unit manhour performance, estimating fundamentals and job cost management systems.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision.
  • Must be a good communicator, motivator, and team player.
Requirements
  • The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
  • Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
  • Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
  • May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
  • Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
  • May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
  • Must have required tools
  • May require U.S. driver license
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
