Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our team as a Survey Crew Chief. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field data collection, crew supervision, and surveying practices, with hands-on expertise using Trimble equipment and experience performing topographical, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, and boundary surveys. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, high-quality data collection and project execution across a wide range of civil, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage field survey crew on a variety of survey projects, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
• Conduct topographical, ALTA/NSPS, and boundary surveys in accordance with local, state, and federal standards.
• Operate and troubleshoot Trimble, data collectors, and related field equipment.
• Interpret engineering plans and legal documents (plats, deeds, easements) to establish property lines and project boundaries.
• Collect and record survey data using Trimble hardware and software (Access, Business Center, etc.).
• Perform site reconnaissance and prepare field sketches, notes, and electronic data files.
• Coordinate with office staff to process and transfer field data for drafting and analysis.
• Ensure safety, quality, and compliance with project requirements and company standards.
• Train and mentor junior field staff and promote a culture of continuous learning and teamwork.

Qualifications:

• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (preferred but not required).
• Proficient with Trimble GPS and data collection workflows.
• Strong working knowledge of ALTA, boundary, and topographic surveying standards.
• Familiarity with civil engineering plans, construction staking, and land development processes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with CAD-based drafting workflows (AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred).
• Knowledge of local land use codes, regulations, and mapping standards.
