Job summary

ZenaTech Inc. in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to join our growing team. You will work with multi-disciplined survey crews to develop civil layout drawings in a 3D model environment, producing records of survey, ALTA and topographic maps.

Ideal candidates have Associate's degree or higher in drafting or related field and at least 5 years of civil/survey CAD drafting experience, with proficiency in Civil 3D, Sokkia Software, and Excel. This is a full-time, on-site role.

We are seeking a qualified Survey CAD Technician to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with multi-disciplined survey teams to develop civil layout drawings in a 3D model environment.

As a Survey CAD Technician, you will play a key role in preparing survey drawings and mapping for a wide range of commercial, industrial, residential, and public works projects. Projects may include Records of Survey, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, and other survey-related mapping and calculations.

This is a full-time, on-site role in Tucson, AZ.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed survey drawings using Civil 3D, and Sokkia Software
• Generate Records of Survey, topographic maps, ALTA maps and survey crew calculations
• Interpret and apply survey maps, engineering plans, notes, and specifications
• Collaborate with surveyors to ensure model accuracy and drafting standards are met
• Utilize Sokkia Software and Civil 3D tools for land surveying, topographic data, and surface modeling
• Handle complex design and drafting tasks independently with minimal supervision
• Understand and create mapping products based on various mapping standards, including FEMA, ALTA, PLSS, state and local jurisdictional requirements, and company standards
• Review and verify survey drawings for compliance with specifications and standards
• Communicate effectively with staff, clients, local jurisdictions, and project consultants
• Maintain productivity in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of civil engineering and surveying design processes
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, with solid experience in 3D modeling, surface creation and contouring
• Practical experience using Sokkia Software for land surveying and civil design
• Skilled in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Ability to create accurate models and drawings from verbal and written specifications
• Familiarity with survey mapping standards and terminology
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Education & Experience

• Associate's degree or higher in drafting, design, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in civil/survey CAD drafting
• AutoCAD: 5+ years
• Civil 3D: 3+ years
• Sokkia Software: 2+ years
