Job summary

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is seeking a Surveillance Officer to monitor MPGE operations under supervision. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and involves observing gaming tables, slot operations, cage and count room activities, and reporting anomalies.

Candidates should have basic computer skills (Word/Excel) and pass a math test. Prior surveillance or security experience is preferred. The position requires shift work, including nights and holidays, and may exceed 40 hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work on all shifts as needed, primary shift assigned by Surveillance Management.
• Maintain surveillance watch to ensure compliance with rules of play by patrons and employees.
• Document and report suspected cheating, errors, or illegal activity to supervisors.
• Respond to casino activity and use equipment to identify and document illegal or unusual activity.
• Prepare reports and report equipment malfunctions.
• Assist in reviews of video/digital recordings.
• Answer phones and respond to requests for surveillance observations of incidents.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Surveillance Shift Manager and/or Surveillance Shift Supervisor, the incumbent will perform surveillance of assigned shift MPGE operations. High school diploma or General Education (GED) degree required. One (1) year of Casino Surveillance, Regulatory, Loss Prevention, Military, and/or Security experience preferred. Basic acceptable knowledge of casino regulations. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry skills. Math skills required, and candidates will be required to successfully pass written math test. Able to work effectively in a confined environment. Candidates currently or previously employed in any gaming related areas (Table Games, Cage, Count Rooms, and Slots) of Foxwoods must be one year removed from Foxwoods gaming position to be considered for the position. Surveillance monitor room personnel are considered essential personnel. Their work schedules will cover the activities of the casino 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including holidays) and regardless of inclement weather. May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.

• Conducts surveillance observations of gaming tables, slot machines, cage operations, slot booth operations, count room operations and any other MPTN and MPGE asset related operations.
• Required to work on all shifts as needed, with primary shift being assigned by the Surveillance Management.
• Primary shift may be changed at any time as needed.
• Maintains close surveillance watch on all casino gaming related activity to assure the rules of play are adhered to by all patrons/players and all casino employees.
• Documents and reports incidences of suspected cheating, errors or illegal activity to Surveillance Shift Manager and/or Surveillance Shift Supervisor.
• Respond to casino activity and utilize necessary equipment to identify, record and document illegal and unusual activities occurring within the MPGE.
• Prepares reports when applicable and report any equipment malfunctions.
• Assists in the reviews of video/digital recordings.
• Answers the telephones and responds to special requests from the casino for surveillance observations of suspected or known incidents of employee, patron or vendor misconduct.
• Also provides video/digital coverage of patrons engaged in high action play, large monetary payouts, large cage transactions, and any event that warrants surveillance coverage.
• Provides surveillance of money handling areas to ensure employees conduct proper payouts.
• Records count room procedures to ensure that count room employees are following proper procedures and to ensure the integrity of the counts.
• Conducts training of new officers as needed.
• Successful completion of six-month probation period where employee is expected to possess proficient knowledge of casino games, casino layout and camera layout.
• Adhere to the Surveillance Department Policies & Procedures.
• Adhere to the Surveillance Department Dress Code Policy.
• Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
