BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an exceptional Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. You will provide nursing care to patients and support doctors in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of veterinary hospital experience, the ability to work independently, and a collaborative spirit. A rotating on-call schedule is required after training, and we offer comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a surgical team.
• Willingness to participate in rotating on-call schedule after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
