Job summary

MedVet is seeking a part-time Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced surgical team. This role requires strong communication between surgeons and clients and involves post-operative care instructions and on-call duties.

The candidate should have a State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred and prior veterinary experience, especially in surgery. Flexibility to work additional hours when necessary is important.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; surgery experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges.
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain medical records, schedule appointments.
• Create patient releases and navigate conversations about treatment plans and costs.
• Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs.
• Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
• Open, turn over and clean operating rooms and sterilize instruments.
