Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced team. The role involves helping surgeons and clients, preparing patients for procedures, and maintaining precise medical records.

Ideal candidates are a State Registered Veterinary Technician (license preferred) with prior veterinary experience, especially in surgery. Strong communication and precise drug calculations are essential for success in this fast-paced hospital.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; surgery experience preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculations, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, and related medical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
• Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations
• Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
• Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs
