Job summary

Allied Veterinary Specialists in South Daytona, FL seeks an experienced Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. You will support the surgical service, assist with consultations and rechecks, monitor patients under sedation, and collaborate with surgeons, clients, and nursing staff to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.

You will maintain medical records, prepare exam rooms, and help manage the surgery schedule while providing education to clients on medications and follow-up

Qualifications

• 3+ years veterinary technician experience preferred.
• CVT, LVT, or RVT credentials are advantageous.
• Excellent patient and client communication is required.
• Comfortable monitoring patients under sedation and light anesthesia.

Responsibilities

• Assist with new surgical consultations and recheck appointments.
• Obtain thorough patient histories and review current medications.
• Perform technician assessments and monitor vital signs.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for specialty appointments.
• Review treatment plans and explain next steps to clients.
• Assist surgeons during examinations and minor procedures.
• Collect blood samples and place IV catheters.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing and patient care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Provide compassionate nursing care to surgical patients.
