Job summary

Keck Medicine of USC in Los Angeles is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide therapeutic care on the surgical telemetry unit. You will apply the nursing process, coordinate patient care with the interdisciplinary team, and advocate for patients and families in a compassionate environment.

You will perform assessments at admission and with changes in condition, administer medications and IV therapy as prescribed, document meticulously, and contribute to discharge planning with case management.

Qualifications

• Experience applying the nursing process in acute care settings.
• Ability to assess patient condition at admission and with changes in status.
• Knowledge of safety protocols for restraints and patient advocacy.
• Skills in educating patients and families about conditions and plans of care.
• Proficiency in accurate documentation and charting of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient upon admission and with changes in condition; complete Nursing Assessments and acuity.
• Develop and revise Plans of Care with interventions and expected outcomes; monitor progress.
• Administer medications and IV therapies per prescribed intervals; ensure policy compliance.
• Delegate tasks according to scope of practice and competency; advocate for patients.
• Provide patient/family education and discharge planning in collaboration with the care team.
• Collaborate with Case Manager/physician on discharge planning; ensure paperwork is complete.
• Document all care, orders, and assessments accurately; maintain safety and equipment protocols.
