Job Summary

Assist with handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. Understand the procedures being performed and anticipate the surgeon's needs. Ensure high-quality patient care and work cooperatively with physicians and staff, demonstrating teamwork.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage daily operations of the surgery center, including staffing, supplies, sterilization, and documentation.
  2. Maintain and update patient-related logs (surgery log, checks, fridge temp, ORA, crash cart, specimens).
  3. Interview, hire, train staff, and evaluate performance. Handle employee relations and resolve issues.
  4. Set up sterile fields with instruments, supplies, and medications needed for procedures.
  5. Maintain sterile technique throughout the procedures.
  6. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon proactively.
  7. Adhere to all policies, regulations, and procedures of Northwest Eye Surgeons, including HIPAA and OSHA/WISHA.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of sterile technique in an operating room setting.
  • Understanding of ophthalmic procedures and patient positioning.
  • Proper handling of instruments, tissue specimens, cultures, and smears.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership and management skills, including conflict resolution and motivation.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Washington Surgical Technologist Registration.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • At least 5 years of OR or ASC experience.
