Job summary

OhioHealth in Dublin, OH is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to prepare the OR for procedures in the Labor and Delivery Unit 1. The role requires completing an OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or equivalent, and 10+ years’ experience as a Surgical Technician, with BLS. Day shifts and a 36-hour week are expected.

Responsibilities include maintaining a sterile field, assisting the surgeon and team, and supporting equipment readiness and patient safety throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• Completion of OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or equivalent military training or 10+ years’ experience as Surgery Technician.
• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification.
• ST certification preferred.
• Demonstrate basic critical thinking on the introductory team.
• Perform primary role independently.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and communicate with staff.
• Identify emergencies and intervene safely with supervision.
• Scrub in 2–3 service lines per competency checklist.
• Independently scrub complex cases in 1–2 service lines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing supplies, equipment and instruments.
• Establish sterile field and present instruments to the operating team.
• Act as 2nd assistant to surgeon and assist with draping and exposure.
• Return sharps and manage specimens; assist with positioning, casting, splinting.
• Mix medications on sterile field after RN verification; assist with wound closure tasks.
• Follow yearly competency for ESU use, endoscopic instrument changes, and robotic cases.
