The surgicaltechnician functions as a cooperative team member in the Surgical Services department bydemonstratingthe ability to provide constant technicalassistanceto the surgeon within his or her scope of practice.The surgicaltechnician follows the current professional practice standards, rules and regulationsset forth by AORN and AST. The surgical technician must be willing to crosstrainand float to meet the needs of the institution.
