Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the OR team. Under supervision, you will handle instruments, supplies and equipment for general to moderately complex procedures and assist the surgeon and team with patient care before, during, and after operations.

Position is part-time, 24 hours per week, with Saturday and Sunday shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm. Eligible for a sign-on bonus of $3,500.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of Surgical Technology program or six months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures and OR practices; ability to assist surgeons in the OR.
• Current BLS certification required or obtain within one month.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Handle surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during procedures.
• Assist surgeon and surgical team with patient care duties.
• Prepare and transport patients as needed.
• Respond to emergent situations per established procedures.

_ GENERAL SUMMARY_ :

Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

_ EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:_

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
• Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.

_ CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED_ :

• Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.
