Role Overview

Assists surgeons during surgical procedures across all patient ages, ensuring sterile techniques and proper setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports treatment coordination, provides patient assistance, manages clinical equipment, and maintains aseptic protocols.
• Participates in surgical briefings, verifies surgical site, maintains supply counts, prepares specimens, and disposes of sharps safely.
• Assesses wounds, applies dressings, and follows universal precautions.
• Initiates emergency procedures, assists with patient admissions/discharges, and performs billing as needed.
• Acts as a preceptor for students, performs quality control, and handles additional duties like specimen collection, patient transport, and post-mortem care.
• Ensures medications and solutions are labeled under supervision.

Qualifications & Skills

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required or exempt under applicable law; completion of a specialty training program.

Work Environment & Schedule

Typically performed in a clinical setting with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties with a 30-minute response time.
