Job summary

Qualifications

  • Certification: CST preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Surgical Preparation: set up the OR with instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Intraoperative Assistance: pass instruments to the surgeon and surgical assistant.
  • Sterile Technique: maintain aseptic technique at all times.
  • Equipment Handling: count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery.
  • Collaboration: communicate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff for a smooth process.
  • Postoperative Duties: clean and prepare the OR for the next case and ensure proper sterilization.
  • Documentation: assist with accurate documentation related to surgical cases and instrument usage.

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room by ensuring a sterile environment, preparing instruments, and assisting surgeons during procedures. This position demands technical precision, strong attention to detail, and a calm, collaborative approach to patient care. Prior gynecological surgical experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surgical Preparation: Set up the operating room with necessary surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to procedures
  • Intraoperative Assistance: Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical assistant during procedures
  • Sterile Technique: Maintain aseptic technique at all times, ensuring the sterility of the surgical field
  • Equipment Handling: Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure none are retained
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff to support a smooth surgical process
  • Postoperative Duties: Clean and prepare the operating room for the next case, ensuring proper disposal and sterilization
  • Documentation: Assist with accurate documentation related to surgical cases and instrument usage
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
  • Experience: 1+ year of operating room experience required; experience in gynecological procedures is strongly preferred
  • Skills: Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team, maintain composure under pressure, and adhere to safety protocols
Working Conditions
  • Environment: Fast‑paced surgical setting within The MAC
  • Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods, lifting and positioning patients and equipment, and working in sterile conditions
  • Schedule: Day shift
