Job summary

BJC Healthcare - Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Illinois seeks a Surgical Technician to support operating room procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes prepping the OR, assisting with scrubs, and helping with room turnover.

This PRN position offers 24 hours per 6 week schedule, with shifts 5a-5p or 5p-5a, and a benefits package through BJC Total Rewards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Accred Surgical Program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

• Call: 12 hours per 6 week schedule
• Holiday: One Summer and One Winter
• Additional Info: OB unit, in addition to the surg tech duties, our techs function as registration, room turn over, Pct duties and are hands on with infant care.
