Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program required.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist or obtain within 6 months of employment OR prior employment in a health care facility before Sept 1, 2009.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Check supplies and equipment for the surgical procedure.
• Scrub in, don sterile gown and gloves; gown surgeon and assistants.
• Maintain sterile technique during the procedure.
• Pass instruments required during surgery to the surgeon.
• Assist in positioning, skin prep, and draping of patient.
• Assist with postoperative dressings and wound care.
• Transfer patients to and from the operating table.
• Prepare the Surgical Operating Suite for the next operation.
• Support efficiency and case turnover times.
• Assist in training students and new employees.
• Demonstrate professionalism and compassionate patient care.
