Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) is seeking a Surgical Technologist to perform direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions. Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program is required.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment for the surgical procedure.
• Scrubs in the prescribed manner and dons sterile gown and gloves.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Assist in positioning, skin preparation and draping of patient.
• Passes instruments required during surgery to the surgeon.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
• Assists with postoperative dressings.
• Assists circulator or scrub person in all specialties.
• Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for terminal sterilization.
