Job summary

USA Health seeks a qualified Surgical Tech to assist in patient draping and establishing the sterile field. You will operate various surgical instruments, pass sterile tools to surgeons, and collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile environment.

Responsibilities include preparing instrumentation, complying with infection control standards, and serving as a preceptor for new staff. Regular attendance and ability to work overtime are expected in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field.
• Operate various surgical equipment and tools
• Passes sterile instruments to surgeons during procedures.
• Applies medical technology of anatomy and physiology correctly.
• Collaborates with circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
• Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential
• Prepares and anticipates instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for usage during the procedure.
• Sets up individual cases correctly using doctor’s preference cards as a reference utilizing appropriate instruments and prosthetic devices.
• Citizenship responsibilities include: Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict
• Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit
• Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements
• Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Assists physicians and RN with emergency situations.
• Serves as preceptor for new employees and nursing students
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
• Handle specimens for laboratory analysis
• Accountable for the disposal of all bio-hazard materials and "sharps."
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
• Related duties as assigned
