Job summary

McLaren Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in operating rooms and ensure sterile environments. You will prepare rooms, instruments, and supplies, and support surgeons during procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile fields, positioning patients, passing instruments, assisting with counts and specimens, and handling routine clerical tasks. BLS certification is required along with education in surgical technology and HIPAA/OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program.
• One month of job-related experience and/or training.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating rooms, ensuring all equipment and supplies needed for the procedure are disinfected, assembled and in working order.
• Maintains sterile field in the operating room.
• Provides supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
• Prepares patient's skin for surgery; positions patients; monitors vitals.
• During surgery, performs scrub functions, passes sterile instruments, may cut sutures, tracks items used, performs instrument counts, collects/labels specimens, and assists with wound dressing.
• Ensures operating rooms are clean, sterile and stocked for the next procedure.
• Performs clerical duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining logs, accessing patient information, and supporting administrative staff.
• Delivers compassionate support to patients and families.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, OSHA and other health care regulations.
• Maintains safe, clean environment and adheres to infection-control and hazardous-waste policies.
• Performs other related duties as required.
