Job summary

McLaren Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons and the medical team in operating rooms. Responsibilities include preparing patients, rooms, and equipment, maintaining a sterile field, and supporting perioperative care.

The role requires completion of an accredited surgical technology program with NBSTSA certification or TS-C certification with experience, and BLS certification. Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection-control policies is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology training program and NBSTSA certification with minimum 1 month related clinical experience; OR.
• TS-C certification from NCCT with two years experience as a non-certified Surgical Technologist.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating rooms, ensuring equipment and supplies are disinfected, assembled and in working order.
• Maintains the sterile field in the operating room.
• Provides supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
• Assists during surgery by passing sterile instruments, may cut sutures, tracks items used and counts instruments; transports patient after procedure as needed.
• Ensures rooms are clean, sterile, and stocked for the next procedure.
• Performs clerical duties such as ordering supplies and maintaining logs; supports administrative staff.
• Delivers compassionate support to patients and families; complies with HIPAA and OSHA policies.
