Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team in Louisiana. You will ensure a safe, sterile environment and assist the surgeon by passing instruments, positioning the patient, and maintaining asepsis throughout procedures.

As a key member of the OR staff, you will anticipate needs, organize supplies, and support intraoperative care while adhering to policies and high standards of patient safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Current BLS certification.
• Surgical Technician certification (preferred).
• Previous experience as a surgical technologist (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, preparation of operative site, care of specimens and room turnover.
• Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
• Use proper sterilization methods for instruments prior to procedures.
• Understand asepsis and address unsafe practices or breaches.
• Prepare the operating room with sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures.
• Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, draping and counting with the circulating nurse.
• Perform the role of first scrub on basic surgical cases.
• Anticipate needs and assist the surgeon with retracting tissue, holding instrumentation and cutting suture.
