Employment Status: Per Diem
Hours per Pay Period: 0.01 = per diem (as needed) (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE:$25.12 - $31.40 (+ $2.25/hr Per Diem Differential)

Assists in the care of the surgical patient by performing the scrubbing role of handling instruments, equipment and supplies. The Surgical Technologist has an understanding of the procedure being performed, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, maintains a sterile field and is responsible pre- and post-operatively for technical components of surgery.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Anticipates, plans for and responds to the needs of the surgeon and other members of the team by constantly monitoring the sterile field.
  2. Demonstrates proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  3. Identifies potential intraoperative complications and responds appropriately to identified needs.
  4. Assists team in maintaining adequate inventory of equipment, supplies and instruments.
  5. Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality of patient care.
  6. Identifies needs and sets goals for own personal growth and development. Meets all system and departmental educational requirements.
  7. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
  8. Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
  9. Performs all other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
• Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent

Certifications and Licenses
• Liaison Council on Certification for Surgical Technologist Within 1 year of hire
