Hours per Pay Period: 0.90 = 72 hours every two weeks (Non-Exempt)

Starting Wage: $37.41/hr

Billings Clinic has carefully developed a nurse residency program which assists new registered nurses bridge the gap in the transition from student to a competent, professional nurse over their first year of practice.Our nurse residency program offers a supportive environment which allows our new nurses to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence which are vital components in the care of our patients. All new grads or nurses with less than 1 year of RN experience that are offered a position are required to participate in a Nurse Residency Program and will be assigned to one of three Residency Cohorts (spring, summer, fall).

New grad RNs will be considered for hire into the following departments:

  • Inpatient Cardiovascular Unit (CVU)-The Inpatient Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) is a 29-bed Progressive Care Cardiac unit. Primary patient population has cardiac, vascular, and thoracic disease processes. Wide range of patients including post-op cardiac, acute coronary syndrome, chest pain, stroke, heart failure, arrhythmia diagnoses, and post-procedure cardiac patients.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)-The Inpatient Critical Care Unit (ICU ) is a 28-bed mixed medical-surgical ICU that opened in 2014. Our service lines include cardiovascular, neurosurgical, trauma, COVID, general surgical, and general medical.
  • Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) -The Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) is a 28 monitored bed unit. The primary patient populations in this unit will have high acuity needs and the unit will serve as a bridge between the Intensive Care Unit and the Medical/Surgical Units. The IMC will care for a wide range of patient diagnoses including: sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, complex wounds, neurological patients requiring frequent monitoring, COVID patients or patients in respiratory distress requiring high levels of oxygen therapy, and patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator use.

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR AN EMPLOYMENT INCENTIVE, RELOCATION REIMBURSEMENT, NCLEX REIMBURSEMENT AND TUITION LOAN REPAYMENT.

Under general supervision, utilizes the nursingprocess of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, andtheoretical/clinical skills in the promotion/maintenance of health.Incorporates evidence-based nursing practices consistent with national standardsand which support quality outcomes. Assumes responsibility and accountabilityfor the quality of nursing care. Directs the plan of care while maintainingprofessionalism.

Essential Job Functions

• Utilizing a holistic approach and evidence basednursing practices, incorporates the nursing process into the goal-directed
• plan of care for the patient. Collaborateswith the interdisciplinary care team to execute a plan of care appropriate tothe needs of the patients.
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely entryinto patient medical record as indicated by patient condition and documentationguidelines, consistent with departmental policies and procedures.
• Adheres to Billings Clinic safety standards,policies and practices. Anticipates and identifies problems and safety issues,then initiates appropriate action.
• Maintains appropriate skill/knowledge andapplication of relevant and commonly used equipment specific to area,pharmacology and laboratory values based on disease process or physiologicalstatus.
• Utilizes evidence based practice, supported bynursing research, within specialty area.
• Utilizes performance improvement principles toassess and improve the quality of patient/resident care. Incorporates theMagnet Model in transforming the work environment and quality of nursing care.
• Takes responsibility for own professionalgrowth and development needs; meets all system/departmental educationalrequirements.
• Demonstrates collaborative, supportive, andcaring behaviors in communication with patient’s families, visitors, and theinterdisciplinary care team.
• Consideration is given to the appropriatenessof care based on the population specific needs of the patient.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
• 2 Year / AssociatesDegree (ASN) - Associate (or Diploma) RNs hiredinto this position must commit to completing their Bachelor of Nursing degreewithin4 years of their date of hire. Billings Clinic will help supportthe cost through financial assistance
• Preferred - 4 Year/ Bachelors Degree (BSN)

Certifications andLicenses
• Current Montanastate license as a registered nurse upon hire, or compact nursing license with ability toobtain a MT RN license within 90 days of hire date
• ACLS certificationpreferred or ability to successfully complete ACLS training within two years ofhire
