Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the delivery of patient care during operative procedures. The role involves instrument handling, room setup, and supporting the surgeon as the first assistant under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

The position is part-time (24 hours/week) with a sign-on bonus up to $15,000, and may require travel to additional facilities for on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program with accreditation.
• Must obtain Surgical Technologist certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivery of patient care by handling instruments during procedures.
• Prepare, process and arrange surgical instruments and supplies under RN supervision.
• Assist the surgeon as first assistant including tissue handling and wound exposure.
• Anticipate and supply instruments and equipment to minimize interruptions.
• Participate in on-call system in the OR for emergencies and urgency cases.
• Support education and orientation of surgical personnel.
