Job summary

Penn State Health - Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center, LLC seeks a Surgical Technologist for a PRN position in Hershey, PA. You will scrub, assist in patient care in the OR, and prepare supplies and equipment for procedures.

The role requires aseptic technique, appropriate training/certification, and the ability to precept others. Shift is day, with varied hours and no weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program with certification.
• Certification within six months if a new graduate from accredited surgical tech program.
• Completion of a US Army/Navy/Air Force surgical technology training program.
• Previously employed to practice surgical technology at PSH or another facility within the last two years.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required before orientation ends.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties and assists in-patient care in the Operating Room.
• Prepares supplies and equipment for use in surgical procedures.
• Acts as a preceptor to less experienced staff and students as needed.
• Maintains aseptic technique and applies anatomy/physiology knowledge to patient care.
