Virtua Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for varied hours in South New Jersey. Under RN/Physician supervision, you will assist in the operative setting, maintain the sterile field, and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.

The role requires one year of OR training or experience, plus a High School diploma and accredited Surgical Technology training. BLS certification is required; state CE maintenance is preferred. Per diem, on-site schedule, with competitive hourly pay.

Summary

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Position Responsibilities

• Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure and provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary.
• Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.
• Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.

Position Qualifications

Required / Experience Required: One year OR Training or Experience. Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program. Training/Certifications/Licensure: BLS. Surgical Technologist Certification preferred Maintenance of New Jersey State required 15 CEs per year.

Hourly Rate

Hourly Rate: $28.63 - $44.54 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
