Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the Operating Room. Under RN/physician direction, you will handle instruments, supplies and equipment to maintain a sterile field and support patient care during procedures.

The role requires one year OR training/experience, graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program, and BLS certification. Per Diem, part-time, on-site in Mount Holly, NJ with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• One year OR Training or Experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program required.
• BLS certification required; Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
• New Jersey state CE requirement: 15 CEs per year.

• Scrubs for, prepares, sets up and assists during surgical procedures; transports patients between units as needed.
• Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.
• Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.

Summary:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Position Responsibilities:

• Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure and provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary.
• Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.
• Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

One year OR Training or Experience.

Required Education:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

BLS.

Surgical Technologist Certification preferred

Maintenance of New Jersey State required 15 CEs per year.

Hourly Rate: $28.63 - $44.54 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
