Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist surgeons by preparing instruments and maintaining a safe, efficient operating room across three ORs.

You will follow infection control, handle decontamination and sterilization, manage instrument counts, prep patient skin, position patients, and monitor during procedures, while adhering to PPE and aseptic standards.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Scrub various types of basic surgical procedures: general, OB/gyn, urology, gastroenterology; total joint; podiatry & ortho.
• Current BLS required.
• Short-term training in operating room setting preferred.
• Previous experience with handling of sterile supplies and/or instruments preferred.
• Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the three operating rooms.
• Maintain a safe, effective and orderly operating room to maximize patient safety.
• Follow infection control, equipment cleaning, decontamination, disinfection and sterilization procedures for all instrument sets and devices.
• Perform instrument counts and maintain accurate counts during procedures; prepare supplies for interventions.
• Prepare patient skin, position patients, monitor during surgery and assist scrub functions.
