Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
• Completion of licensed Certified Surgical Technology Program; certification required within 1 year for new hires.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, asepsis, and OR standards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates patient care concepts.
• Verifies patient's identity with a registered nurse.
• Applies asepsis and disinfection principles for supplies, instruments and environment.
• Applies sterile technique during each operative procedure.
• Demonstrates surgical case presentation skills.
• Applies anatomy and physiology knowledge to tailor patient care.
• Acts as scrub person and follows scrub protocols.
• Assists circulator and prepares operative site under nurse direction.
• Maintains accountability as a healthcare professional.
• Completes non-therapeutic tasks under MD/PA/APRN or RN guidance.
• Removes medications from pneumatic tube system to unit/patient areas.
