Job summary

University Hospitals Parma Medical Center OR Team is seeking a Surgical Technologist to maintain sterile technique, anticipate needs, and support the operating room team in Parma. This is the first level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder.

You will perform scrub duties, prepare instruments, and assist with procedures while upholding PHI and department policies. Successful candidates will have completed an accredited program; BLS is required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program (Required).
• Certification preferred but not required.
• Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation and surgical procedures.
• Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient age-specific nursing care to patients/families and assist with nursing interventions.
• Provide patient care in a primary scrub position.
• Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures.
• Ensure instruments and supplies are present and in proper working condition.
• Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field.
• Support the operative team and follow patient care hand-off protocol.
• Participate in the quality improvement process.
• Pursue learning and self-improvement.
