Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
• Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room.
• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during setup of surgical procedures.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
• Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.
• Retains specimens for pathology with surgeon confirmation.
• Transports and cleans instrument sets; supports sterile supply reprocessing.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and staff while maintaining privacy.
