Qualifications

• Certification in surgical technology.
• High school graduate or certified equivalent; Graduate of a formal surgical technology program.
• New graduate or experienced surgical technologist.

Responsibilities

• Functions as scrub person in the Operating Rooms and assumes other duties as assigned.
• Sets up cases with proper instrumentation and supplies prior to start of case.
• Follows hospital policy for hand asepsis.
• Maintains organized sterile field and ensures instrumentation is returned to correct trays.
• Performs accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with RN circulator.
• Maintains safety and infection control practices.
• Precepts new staff as assigned.
• Meets overtime, call changes, and holiday coverage requirements.
