Jefferson Surgical Center at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a certified Surgical Technologist to fill the scrub role across minor and major procedures, under supervision of a nurse and manager. Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist required.
• Two years previous experience as an operating room technician desired.
• Current BCLS

Responsibilities

• Decision making concerning equipment and/or instrumentation sterilization.
• Bio hazardous waste disposal.
• Patient care and patient flow.
• Maintains a safe work environment and follows OSHA guidelines.
• Assists surgeon in scrubbed cases and prepares supplies for upcoming procedures.
• Counts sponges, needles and instruments according to policy.
• Maintains proper sterile technique during gowning and draping.
• Transports instruments to decontamination and restocks rooms to PAR levels.
• Communicates effectively with team members and patients while maintaining confidentiality.
