Qualifications

• Graduated from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program with certification within 12 months of graduation.
• Graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Qualify under the Grandfathering Clause with at least one year in a healthcare facility as a surgical technologist between 2010-2014.
• Qualify under the Hard-to-Fill Clause by completing an accredited program and obtaining certification within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain minimum 15 Continuing Medical Education hours annually.
• Prepare and check instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Set up and maintain a sterile field using aseptic techniques.
• Assist with patient draping and ensure proper attire of the surgical team.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon during procedures.
• Perform sponge and sharp counts with the circulating nurse.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
• Support specialty surgical services and stock OR rooms as needed.
• Prepare sterile dressings and assist with postoperative care.
• Orient new staff and contribute to unit goals.
